Getting to Tefé
From Manaus by boat:
There are passengerboats and speedboats to Tefé.
The speedboats (called AJATO and Rio Belo) from Manaus to Tefé go on all days except Sunday. They leave 6AM from the port called “Escadaria” or “Manaus Moderna” and arrive in Tefé around 12 to 14 hours later. The AJATO from Tefé to Manaus go every day 6AM.
The passenger(-slow) boats from Manaus to Tefé go Saturday till Wednesday morning, leaving around 6AM from the port called “Escadaria” or “Manaus Moderna” and arrive around 36 hours later in Tefé. There are also boats leaving on Wednesday and Thursday evening around 21:30 from the port called Rodway. From Tefé to Manaus there are boats all days, leaving Tefé at 6PM and arriving in Manaus 34 hours later (because it’s downstream). You can travel by hammock (bring your own hammock and strings) or hire a cabine, in most boats with private bathroom.

From Tabatinga by boat:
There are 2 speedboats going from Tabatinga to Tefé. the Gloria de Deus III leaves Tabatinga on Sunday 8AM and the Cristal on Friday 8AM. They take around 20 hours to Tefé. The speedboats from Tefé to Tabatinga leave Wednesday and Friday around 19:00PM to arrive in Tabatinga 24 hours later.
The slow passengerboats leave on Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday around 14:00PM. As Tefé-town lies at a side-river and not directly at the main-river Solimões, you have to get off at Alvarães. This trip takes around 2 days. From Alvarães you can take a motor-ride to Nogueira (R$6,00) and from Nogueira a motorboat to Tefé (R$6,00). Take note: the motorboats between Nogueira and Tefé only go at daytime.
